「별자리 — Aquarius」는 별자리 연작의 마지막 작품, 물병자리를 담았습니다. 분홍빛과 푸른빛, 금빛이 소용돌이치는 은하가 액자 가득 펼쳐지고, 그 앞에서 한 아이가 두 팔을 활짝 벌린 채 춤을 추고 있습니다. 머리에는 헤드셋을 쓰고, 눈을 감은 채 입을 벌려 노래하며, 한 발로 가볍게 서서 빙글 도는 중입니다.
아이는 지금 자기만의 음악 속에 있습니다. 아무도 모르는 박자에 맞춰 몸을 맡긴 채, 남들과 달라도 괜찮다는 듯 온몸으로 자유를 노래합니다. 두 팔을 벌린 모습은 마치 은하 전체를 끌어안으려는 것처럼 보입니다.
액자 속 조명이 켜지면 아이 위쪽 밤하늘에 별들이 하나둘 불을 밝히며 물병자리의 모양이 떠오릅니다. 물병을 기울여 물을 쏟아붓는 듯 이어진 별빛은, 아이가 춤추며 세상에 흩뿌리는 빛처럼 보입니다.
물병자리는 자유와 독창성, 그리고 함께 나누는 마음을 상징합니다. 작품은 나만의 박자로 춤추는 아이가 그 빛을 목마른 누군가에게 기꺼이 나눠 주는, 별자리 연작의 가장 자유롭고 따뜻한 마지막 장면을 보여 줍니다.

Constellation — Aquarius is the last work in the constellation series. A galaxy swirling with pink, blue and gold fills the frame, and in front of it a child dances with arms flung wide. Wearing headphones, eyes closed and mouth open in song, the child spins lightly on one foot.
The child is lost in music of their own, moving to a beat no one else knows, singing freedom with their whole body as if to say it is fine to be different. With arms spread wide, the child seems to be trying to embrace the whole galaxy.
When the light inside the frame comes on, stars light up one by one in the sky above the child and the shape of Aquarius appears. The starlight, flowing like water poured from a tilted jar, looks like the light the child scatters over the world while dancing.
Aquarius stands for freedom, originality and a heart that shares. The work shows the freest, warmest final scene of the constellation series: a child dancing to their own beat who gladly shares that light with someone who is thirsty.

그리스 신화에서 트로이의 아름다운 소년 가니메데는 신들의 왕 제우스에게 이끌려 하늘로 올라가, 신들에게 생명의 물과 음료를 따르는 일을 맡았다고 해요. 물병을 기울여 물을 붓는 그의 모습이 물병자리가 되었습니다. 하늘에서 쏟아진 물이 세상을 적신다고 여겨, 비와 생명을 나눠 주는 별자리로도 불렸어요.
1월 20일 무렵부터 2월 18일 무렵에 태어난 사람의 별자리로, 공기의 별자리이며 천왕성과 토성이 지배 행성입니다. 자유로운 생각과 독창성, 남다른 개성, 그리고 모두를 위해 기꺼이 나누는 마음을 상징한다고 해요. 새로운 시대와 미래를 상징하는 별자리이기도 합니다.
우리나라에서는 가을 밤 남쪽 하늘에서 볼 수 있지만 밝은 별이 적어 찾기 쉽지 않아요. 별자리 한가운데 Y자 모양으로 모인 네 개의 별이 물병의 입구라 불리고, 그 아래로 물줄기를 따라가면 남쪽물고기자리의 밝은 별 포말하우트에 닿습니다. 물병에서 쏟아진 물을 물고기가 받아 마시는 모습이라고 해요.
In Greek myth, Ganymede, a beautiful youth of Troy, was carried up to the heavens by Zeus, king of the gods, and given the task of pouring the water of life and drink for the gods. His figure tipping a jar of water became Aquarius. Because the water poured from the sky was thought to soak the world, it was also called the constellation that shares rain and life.
It is the sign of those born from around 20 January to 18 February — an air sign ruled by Uranus and Saturn. It is said to stand for free thinking, originality, a distinctive personality, and a heart that gladly shares with everyone. It is also a constellation that symbolises a new age and the future.
In Korea it can be seen in the southern sky on autumn nights, but with few bright stars it is not easy to find. Four stars gathered in a Y-shape at its centre are called the mouth of the water jar, and following the stream of water down from there leads to Fomalhaut, the bright star of Piscis Austrinus — said to be a fish drinking the water poured from the jar.

별자리 연작의 마지막 아이에게는 헤드셋 하나를 씌워 주었습니다. 누구에게도 들리지 않는, 오직 자기만의 음악에 맞춰 춤추는 아이를 만들고 싶었습니다.
물병자리는 자유롭고 남다른 별자리라고 합니다. 남들과 박자가 조금 달라도, 낯설고 서툴러도 괜찮습니다. 그 다른 박자가 언젠가 새로운 내일의 노래가 될 테니까요.
그리고 물병자리는 물을 쏟아 세상을 적시는 별자리이기도 합니다. 마음껏 춤추며 얻은 기쁨을 목마른 누군가에게 나눠 줄 때, 그 빛은 더 멀리 퍼져 나간다고 믿습니다.
붓으로 하늘을 칠하던 아이, 마음의 무게를 달던 아이, 줄넘기로 별을 켜던 아이, 별에게 노래하던 아이, 달빛 그네를 타던 아이와 손을 내밀던 아이. 저마다의 하늘을 선물받은 아이들의 이야기가 이 춤추는 아이에게서 마무리됩니다. 여러분에게도 여러분만의 별자리가 있기를 바랍니다.
To the last child of the constellation series, I gave a pair of headphones. I wanted to make a child dancing to music no one else can hear — music entirely their own.
Aquarius is said to be a free and distinctive sign. It is all right if your beat is a little different from others', if it is strange and clumsy. That different beat will someday become the song of a new tomorrow.
And Aquarius is also the constellation that pours out water to soak the world. I believe that when we share the joy we found in dancing freely with someone who is thirsty, that light spreads even further.
The child painting the sky with a brush, the child weighing the heart, the child lighting stars with a skipping rope, the child singing to the stars, the child swinging on a moonbeam, and the child reaching out a hand. The stories of the children who each received a sky of their own come to a close with this dancing child. I hope you, too, have a constellation all your own.
